Digging Deeper: Interesting Learnings
We’re thrilled to share that Closed Playtest IV drew an impressive number of new players. This infusion of fresh perspectives, along with our seasoned veterans, served as a fantastic mix, enabling valuable and diverse feedback.
Hero swapping gained considerable traction in this test, demonstrating its strategic importance in successful raids. While we observed improvements in individual Hero roles, we recognize the need for further improvements, which we’re keen to work on.
The introduction of Esper as a distinct currency for Hero upgrades was a major hit! Your positive responses validated our decision, and we’ll continue to refine this feature with additional functionality and a smoother UI.
Our Leaderboards feature also scored a home run, aligning beautifully with Fableborne’s competitive vision. However, with our growing community, we need to optimize matchmaking for smaller player pools. Rest assured, we’re committed to improve your playtest and tournament experiences.
Future Challenges: The Road Ahead
Your feedback highlighted crucial areas needing our attention:
- The shape of islands significantly influenced defensive strategies. We’re exploring ways to allow players have more control over their island’s form
- The level-up mechanism increased building limits, but the expansion of the area did not lead to new strategies. We’re going back to the drawing board to rethink island progression and its current design
- The role of obstacles may need to be revamped as they seem to fall short in fulfilling their strategic potential
- The bundling of defenses in front of the portal led to a reduction in strategic variations. We’re looking into novel raid entry designs to counter this issue
